Tortorice, of Beaumont, TX, and Londra Domani, a 10-year-old Italian Warmblood mare by Glock’s London, finished clear in 33.176 seconds. While others tried to catch her, the closest clear time came from Grace Griffin and her own Larinto VDR, who stopped the timers of 33.619 seconds. Georgina Jewell and Kybalia SMH/SVN, owned by JET Show Stables, were third in 33.851 seconds.
Tortorice, who trains with Berry Porter and Brookside Pine Farms, has been riding Londra Domani just over a year and enjoys the type of ride the petite bay provides. “She's quite small, but I feel like I'm kind of better on the small, fast one. Having a little more compact of a horse is easier, especially in this indoor ring,” said Tortorice, who was riding in her first indoor competition. “She's just the best; she's my girl. She'll jump over the moon for you.”
Tortorice’s plan for the jump-off was to stay clear and smooth. “I knew if I rode well, then she would help me out there,” the 13-year-old remarked. “I thought I was going to end up second, and I'm so happy. It’s a big deal for me to win.”
Georgina Jewell won the Best 1.20m/1.25m Junior Jumper Award, while Grace Griffin won the Best 1.20m/1.25m Amateur Jumper Award.
